Who is ‘Introduction to Rock Climbing’ for?
This rock climbing course is for people who have little or no rock climbing experience. You can try a day of rock climbing outside to see if you like it, or opt for a longer course to develop your skills so that you feel happy heading to the local climbing wall after your course.
What will be covered?
The Introduction to Rock Climbing course is run at a maximum ratio of 1 instructor : 4 participants. 1:4 is a great ratio for a day of trying out rock climbing. We would recommend 1:2 for longer courses so that you can get the most out of your experience. This ensures that we can cover the basics thoroughly and you will feel confident to head off to the climbing wall or bouldering at the end of your course. What we can cover:
Rock Climbing Equipment - harness, rock shoe and helmet fitting
Tying into the harness
Climbing movement technique
Building basic rope systems - Top and Bottom roping
Getting information from the guidebooks
Choosing a good venue
What previous clients thought ...
“What an amazing time I had on the course at the weekend. I really enjoyed it and got out of it far more than I had expected. Paul was a brilliant instructor – he really helped me feel comfortable and confident on my first outdoor climbing”
James Hill - London

Alex & Sam Rowe - Hertfordshire
“Thanks again for teaching us last week, it was a brilliant experience for both of us.”
Richard & Matt Cornall - Oxfordshire
“We had a great 2 days. Paul was great with the boys -- very patient (with me, too). It was an excellent introduction for them, and with the weather being what it was, the day was a huge success.”
Greg Venters - Belgium
What if the weather is bad?
We will endeavour to spend as much time as possible out on the crags, however if the weather is bad we can often cover many of the skills in the climbing wall.
