Who is a ‘Navigation Course’ for?
This course is designed to help you get to grips with navigation. No previous experience is necessary. However, if you are wanting to improve your skills the course can be tailored to help you fine tune your skills and add more advanced techniques to your toolbox.
This course is best done over 1 or 2 days.
What will be covered?
Our Navigation courses can run up to a maximum ratio of 1 instructor : 6 participants. You will cover a selection of the following depending on your current level of navigation:
Choosing the right map - scale, type
Orientating the map
Picking out linear features and following them
Matching map to ground and ground to map
Using the compass
Walking on and taking a bearing
Poor visibility Navigation
Night navigation is not included unless specifically requested this will be at extra cost depending on the time of year, get in contact to find out more.

What if the weather is bad?
The weather has to be pretty bad to stop a navigation course from running, however if high winds are forecast we have a great selection of low level venues to keep you busy with your ma and compass.

Once you have decided which course you would like to do send an email to enquire about the dates that suit you. I will then let you know if an instructor is available.
